Inside the ring that I love to call "Dark Side" is depicted the God Mithra and the eagle. The Mithraic cult was widespread among the ranks of the Roman army.

The symbolism inherent in this work can be summarized as strength of mind, courage, and the recovery of one's identity and dignity following a burning defeat.

This is the story of a valiant Roman special unit on a mission to the Germanic lands, to regain honor and recover the three lost Eagles, where the shadow of defeat still loomed...

The original idea was to create a ring with the Mask of Kalkriese as the main subject, so called from the place of its discovery: a hill located in Lower Saxony, Germany, in the Teutoburg Forest. The artifact in question represents the front part of a special Roman cavalry helmet, generally considered a parade object. However, the fact that it was found in a place that was the scene of a fierce battle already creates a contradiction in itself. Furthermore, this type of helmet was extremely expensive and only some elite units, such as the Praetorians, could afford it.
From this premise comes my romanticized idea (although devoid of precise historical accuracy) of attributing a decisive role to the Praetorian Guard, imagining a group of valiant soldiers on a special mission sent directly by the emperor from Rome, with the aim of recovering the three eagles lost in the battle that preceded the events narrated, where the Ninth legion of the Roman army suffered a disastrous defeat in Germanic lands.
