THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POSSESSING AND SAFEGUARDING
Those who safeguard do not possess
(the difference that changes everything)

The difference between possessing and safeguarding is not immediately apparent.
Possessing is a simple act. Something is acquired, carried with us, placed among the things we already have. This is how most objects work.
But a DECEM Relic does not take its place in the same way.
To possess is to hold on
When we possess something, we set its boundaries.
It becomes part of a collection. We add it, preserve it, protect it.
Its value remains tied to the person who has it.
It is the same mechanism we have already seen in the process of creation
The difference between possessing and safeguarding
Safeguarding is different.
It means not holding on, but preserving.
Not adding, but sustaining over time.
It is not about what one has, but about the relationship one builds.
It is not a material difference
The object does not change.
The same metal, the same form, the same weight.
What changes is perception.
It is the same principle found in what is not immediately visible.
What transforms the relationship
When something is safeguarded, it ceases to be merely present.
It acquires continuity.
It is no longer only something to be worn, but something to journey through over time.
What endures over time
Not everyone makes this passage.
Nor is it necessary.
But when it happens, the difference is clear.
It is no longer about having something.
It is about preserving something that continues to exist, even as it changes.
Forged in Venice
Every Relic is born in Venice, within the Tempio DECEM.
Not to be accumulated. But to be preserved.
