Together with Steno and Euriale, it is one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the marine divinities Forco and Ceto. According to the myth, the Gorgons had the power to petrify anyone who had met their gaze and, of the three, Medusa was the only one not to be immortal.

Legend has it that after the killing of Medusa by Perseus, the winged horse Pegasus came out of the wound. (Inside the ring)
